A community volunteer and an award winning broadcast journalist for almost 30 years. It's time to bring that experience and skillset to the Halifax Council table.

Meet Lisa

I have lived in Beaver Bank for over 35 years. District 14 is where I chose to raise my family.
I graduated from Sackville High School in 1986 and stayed in the community while obtaining my Bachelor of Journalism (Honours) degree from the University of King's College.
After graduation, I was incredibly blessed to be able to grow my career in HRM, working in radio, television, newspapers and now new media.
During that time, I have covered Halifax Regional Council extensively. I know the people, I know the issues.
Married to Jamie Paterson and proud mom to my daughter Bronwyn who is going into her final year at Lockview High School and step-daughter Heather who is studying in London, Ont.
We have two soft-coated wheaten terriers who are the furry sons we never had.

What has she done?

As a child, my parents stressed the importance of giving back to the community. From organizing children's carnivals for Muscular Dystrophy in elementary school, to assisting at the IWK in my teens, volunteering has always been an important part of my life. I see serving as councillor for District 14 as a natural extension of my community service.

Other volunteer commitments include:
  • Crimestoppers
  • MS Society
  • Metro United Way
  • Muscular Dystrophy Atlantic Region
  • Beaver Bank Monarch Drive Elementary
  • Beaver Bank Community Awareness Association
  • Northwood Foundation
  • Canadian Energy and Paperworkers Union
  • 2015 HRM Volunteer Award recipient

Lisa has a plan

Accessibility, accountability and representation are the cornerstones of what I offer the residents of District 14.
